 When Ready wrote The Space Between she wanted to capture the unique perspective of life as a professional musician. To do so, she spent weeks interviewing a musician who has been playing professionally since the early 1960s. His early years were spent touring with a blue’s band. He shared with Ready the struggles of touring around the US including many gigs where the band was outright unwanted. Decades later that band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
